In a blog entry dated March 19, someone claiming to be "Kris Aquino" hit Villar for using kids to reach out to the poor.
“Omigosh kalerky to the max. Imagine, may I gamit pa mga kids sa commercial to make sipsip to the poor. Pano naman kaming mga richhh!” according to the malicious blog entry.
The blog entry also asked readers to just vote for Aquino, providing a link to his website.
Nacionalista Party pulled out the entry and issued a statement after a screenshot of the attack was shared in social networks.
“We are extremely disturbed by the hacking of Sen. Manny Villar’s website by persons unknown,” said Gilbert Remulla, NP spokesman and senate candidate.
Remulla said the attack was an “indication of our emergence as a front-runner in the 2010 elections.”
“Underground elements seem to persist, and a cyberwar is being waged against us--what with the flurry of black propaganda texts and 'mansion hoax' e-mails to spoofing our identity on social networks…clearly, this hacking attempt was meant to negatively impact on our campaign's goodwill,” he added.
