Filed against Claudine Barretto dismissed. Former aide Nancy Cruz, filed against actress Claudine Barretto in 2008, the Quezon City prosecutor's office was dismissed the complaint.
Cruz accused Barretto of not reporting her employment to the Social Security System (SSS). She also alleged that Barretto did not give her financial aid during her pregnancy.
Barretto had denied the charge. The actress said it was Cruz who initially did not want to be registered with the SSS, only to inform her later that she (Cruz) had already enrolled with a P2,500 monthly contribution.
In a resolution, assistant city prosecutor Leonardo Raul Gonzales junked the complaint filed by Cruz for "lack of probable cause."
The assistant city prosecutor pointed out that Cruz's complaint was not referred to the SSS, which could have verified if Barretto did or did not comply with the Social Security Act.
Just recently, the actress figured in another controversy when she signed up for a two-film contract with Viva Films.
For so long, Barretto had worked with Star Cinema, ABS-CBN's film outfit.
According to the actress, the move was meant to express her desire "for freedom." "It's time I take some risks," she said.
