Car blown up by the bombers in Iligan City was registered at the Office in Manila. In Manila, Philippines—The car blown up by the bombers in Iligan City, where 22 people were injured, was registered at the Land Transportation Office in Manila, a Church official today disclosed.

Fr. Albert Mendez, social action director of the diocese of Iligan City, said initial investigation of the police also showed that the car was registered to a certain Mario dela Pena.

"Pwede pong carnap kasi nakarehistro po mula sa NCR (National Capital Region). Ang layo naman ng pinuntahan," Mendez said in an interview with Church-run Radyo Veritas.
Mendez said the security in the vicinity of public places in Iligan such, as churches and ports, have been stringent to prevent a similar incident from happening.

He said motor vehicles would have to be thoroughly inspected before it is allowed to come in the parking areas in the vicinity of churches.

"Kahapon po sarado po talaga ang pinto ng mga gate namin. Ngayon po ay pinagbubukas na naman namin pero may mga nagmomonitor po talagang sibilyan at mga pulis po. Pinapasok po ang mga sasakyan pero mahigpit po ang pag-tse-tsek sa mga ito," the priest said.
